Recycling starts with knowing what you can bring. Our recycling center accepts a wide range of everyday materials — making it easy to keep valuable resources out of the landfill.
By sorting and dropping off accepted recyclables, you’re helping conserve energy, reduce waste and support a cleaner, more sustainable community. Explore the list below to see what we accept and how you can make a difference.
The Johnson County Recycling District accepts the following items at our Recycling Centers.
Paper Products
Franklin and Edinburgh
Paper, magazines, newspapers, catalogs, mail, phone books, paperboard and cartons.
Note: Shredded paper should only be brought during the Saturday events we host with Shares.
Corrugated Cardboard
Franklin
Quantity Limited at Edinburgh
Must be clean and dry. Please break down boxes.
Plastic
Franklin and Edinburgh
Bottles, tubs and jugs.
Metal
Franklin and Edinburgh
Steel cans, aluminum cans, food cans and foil without residue.
Glass
Franklin Only
Bottles and jars only.
